A Soft Disturbance
A debut collaborative exhibition by Leeds based artist Abigail Elizabeth & Sound Designer Sam Jones, fusing sound & textiles to create an immersive environment for you to explore and encounter. Aiming to capture a sense of discovery as the artists have designed it to be unfinished until interacted with.
Using brightly coloured crochet, Abigail Elizabeth explores the relationship between restrictive capitalist culture and the light escapism necessary to feel a sense of personhood in an ever-expecting world. Keeping their practice second-hand is key to its integrity, this collaboration has been created with reducing environmental impacts wherever possible. Abigail has been focused on creating work around simple, playful, sensory experiences with an aim to bring intrigue & joy.
Sam Jones builds sonic experiences with an acute sense of personality, steering away from the preset-heavy landscape of modern music making. With the considerations of how these pieces are going to be interacted with Sam has made bespoke sounds that are non typical in the music making practice. Pieces to be dropping eaves on as opposed to listened to in full.
Melding these two practices into one interactive experience has been a joy, please interact with curiosity, we appreciate your addition to this piece.

Be gentle with your eyelid, they're very delicate, if you have lashes especially, don't pull too hard, just enough to open, just enough to listen I thought of you as I fell asleep, you let my first set of eyelids to close, but I had to close the second by hand. Eyelid (2025) Mixed media, Sound Abigail Elizabeth & Sam Jones
